All About the Job
Family Concierge is partnering with intentional first-time parents in Amherst, NY to find a full-time nanny for their infant son, who will be about eight months old when the role begins in January. This is sole-charge care, four days a week. He sleeps through the night, eats well, and is happiest on the floor or in a bouncer with someone paying close attention. Even in his first months, baby boy has demonstrated strong nonverbal communication skills!
His parents are hiring their first nanny, and they have thought carefully about what they want the job to be. This is a childcare role and only a childcare role. Tidying is limited to what belongs to him.
What You’ll Do
- Sole-charge care for an infant boy
- Bottles, solids, and mealtimes as he discovers his personal tastes
- Daytime sleep with a flexible plan for a baby who resists napping
- Floor play, tummy time, and hands-on activities that keep him on track from sitting to crawling to walking
- Outings and stroller walks on sunny days
- Child-related tidying only: his play area at the end of the day, his bottles, his laundry
- Communicating with both parents on feeding, sleep, and how the day went
- Watching and documenting developmental milestones
Who We’re Looking For
You have cared for babies at this age before and you like it. You know that eight months is different than 10 months and beyond. You bring routine without rigidity, you read a baby’s cues without being told, and you can provide sole-charge childcare confidently. The right fit understands the unique responsibility of caring for a family's first child as a private nanny.
- 3+ years of infant care, preferably with first-time parent experience
- Confidence caring for one child alone across a full nine-hour day
- The judgment to adapt his days as he grows, without waiting to be asked
- Clear, unhurried communication with parents who are new to employing someone
- A clean driving record and reliable transportation
Standard for our placements: legal on-the-books (W-2) employment, CPR and First Aid (or a willingness to obtain), reliable transportation, a background check, and a sincere intention to build a lasting fit with the family.
Why You’ll Love This Job
One baby, four days, one home, with Fridays off. This family is intentionally planning ahead for January, so you can give proper notice and finish well wherever you are now. The job itself is designed to be full-charge care for one child at the age when everything starts happening for two busy working parents in demanding professional roles.
