All About the Job
Family Concierge is partnering with a private family of six settling into Spencerport, NY to hire a part-time Family Assistant and Mother's Helper. The family hopes to find a self-starter who sees what needs doing without much direction, takes real pride in a well-run home, and is gentle and patient with young children.
Your focus is the home: you love working in the kitchen and taking the lead on domestic duties proactively. You approach tidying and household order with a high standard, stay ahead of the family's laundry, handle occasional errands and grocery runs, and keep the household's systems running smoothly. The work is self-directed, while working in tandem with Mom to keep a steady routine.
This is a private, education-minded family of faith who value discretion. The aim of this role is simple: take the household load off Mom's plate so she can be fully present with her children and embrace their early years. Hours are flexible for the right person, and the family would like this to be a lasting fit, so there is real room to settle in and grow with them.
What You'll Do
- Take the lead on meal prep and everyday cooking: plan simple family meals, prep ingredients and dishes ahead, and keep lunches and snacks ready to go
- Keep the kitchen and common areas reset and tidy to a high standard through the day: dishes, counters, and putting things back where they belong
- Stay ahead of the family's laundry start to finish: washed, folded, and put away
- Run a weekly declutter and tidy rotation (pantry, closets, mudroom, toy bins, linens, and the like)
- Handle groceries, errands, returns, and post-office runs; restock household and children's essentials before they run low
- Build and run the family's household systems: the weekly reset, the meal plan, and the running lists that keep a full house calm
- Lend occasional mother's-helper support with the girls as the day calls for it, especially the two littlest while Mom is busy
- Leave the home reset and ready for the next day before heading out
This is not a deep-cleaning position; a separate cleaner handles the deep cleans.
Who We're Looking For
You genuinely enjoy running a home and feel at ease in a kitchen. You cook simple, good food, you keep things tidy to a real standard, you read a household well, and you work happily on your own without waiting to be directed. With the children you are gentle, patient, and kind, and you bring a calm to a busy house. You're positive by nature and open to feedback, and while you're comfortable interacting with young children, the focus of your day is the house rather than the kids.
The family would love to find someone who sees this as a long-term relationship: a steady presence who settles in, learns how the house runs, and takes real ownership of it.
Beyond that, the right fit brings:
- A proactive, self-starting streak: you see what needs doing and handle it without being asked
- Confidence in the kitchen: meal prep, cooking ahead, and feeding a family of six with simple, reliable meals
- A knack for organization and the systems that keep a home running
- Experience keeping a home to a high standard (as a family assistant, house manager, housekeeper, or in your own busy household)
- A gentle, patient, genuinely kind way with babies and toddlers, and a willingness to lend a hand as needed
- A calm, nurturing presence that steadies a full house
- Discretion and respect for privacy
- An upbeat presence and a real openness to feedback as the role takes shape
- Reliable transportation, a clean driving record, and comfort driving for errands
Standard for our placements: CPR and First Aid (or a willingness to obtain), reliable transportation, legal on-the-books (W-2) employment, and a sincere intention to build a lasting fit with the family.
Why You'll Love This Job
This is a flexible part-time role that respects both your time and your standards. You'll have real autonomy to run the kitchen and the systems that keep a busy home calm, and you'll see the difference your work makes every day: dinner handled, a home that feels in order, and a lighter load for a hardworking mom who truly embraces the time she has with her children. The family has already had one great experience with this role and knows exactly what they value in it: initiative, a gentle presence, and the calm that comes from a home that runs. For someone who loves creating order, enjoys cooking for a family, and wants to become a trusted, lasting part of a household's daily life, this is a special fit for a kind and thoughtful family.
